Finalist in the 2016 Road to Memphis Challenge, Snake Oil Salesman is a blues band that is making its presence known on the Central Illinois scene. Their sound is a dynamic, high energy blend of traditional blues, classic rhythm & blues, and gritty rock’n’roll/rockabilly.
Snake Oil Salesman’s leader, guitarist, and front man is JT Doubet. A youngster on the Central Illinois Scene, he’s no slouch when it comes to the blues. With influences like BB King, T-bone Walker, Robert Johnson, and more, Doubet has developed his own unique guitar style featuring smoky rhythms, and sizzling solos.
Harp man Chris Camper has been playing for over 50 years, and has played throughout Central Illinois. This experience has helped him to develop a style similar to Sonny Boy Williams I and II, and James Cotton.
Bassist Matt Harms has been playing for 20 plus years, playing Peoria, Bloomington, and Chicago. Born to a musical family, Matt has played in Rock, Jazz and blues groups developing a solid bass style.
Drummer Rod Joos has played throughout Central Illinois for many years. Some of the highlights include the Macqueen Street Band, and Ready, Steady Go. A teacher of drums, he’s a solid drummer and gels nicely with Matt.
