The Smokers are a regional touring band from central Illinois and part of the Indie Blues Movement. The band made their debut after winning the central Illinois “Road to Memphis” contest in 2014. The Smokers have made appearances on local radio and television stations including Peoria WMBD Greg and Dan and the News 25 Today morning talk show. Selections from their current album have been featured or made rotation on FM radio stations including WGLT Blues Bloomington/Normal, WEFT Champaign/Urbana, WWCT Peoria and overseas on French Radio Coteaux. They have also been featured in several publications including the Peoria Journal Star CUE section and Blues Blast magazine.
The band has performed at the New Daisy Theater on Beale Street, opened up for Ana Popovic, Rev Horton Heat, and most recently were joined by Mr. Buddy Guy himself onstage at Legends in Chicago. The Smokers have also held featured slots at several local and regional festivals including Decatur Celebration, Budweiser Illinois Blues Fest, Pekin Marigold Fest, Peoria Fine Art Fair, Elandorf Music Festival, and the Sun Prairie Wisconsin Bacon Brew & BBQ show. The band’s musical emphasis is on memorable songs, creative improvisation, and pure energy. Their influences range from both traditional to modern giving them an eclectic style. Their 2016 debut album entitled “Roads Less Traveled” now available on iTunes & Amazon.
